New semester, new ideas...

Thanks to everyone who came to "Mad Hot Ballroom" last week. It was really nice to start the semester with an uplifting movie and some delicious food! I just figured out how to add lists of people to the blog, and I am feeling way more proud of myself than I should.

Anyway, I'm spending a little time thinking about what our next TSC event might be... I am looking online to see what is happening in the CU and Boulder communities in the next month. I will gather some ideas, but if any of you know of something that's going on that TSC might want to attend or be a part of, please post it, or let Sara or me know.

I'm excited about this technological advancement TSC is making!
Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend.

I am interested in getting information on how to conduct a social action project in my civics class. I was not able to attend the training but (of course) now want to do it in class! I am hoping to have the students select a social issue concerning our school or local community, research the issue or problem, collect data and analyze it, and then come up with and act on ways to help fix the problem or act on the issue. I am looking for a planning framework.

Also, in other news. Today I had a student tell me she feels that geography is irrelevant and offensive to her because she is an anarchist. How might a teacher respond to such a comment? I would like to involve her more in class because she is of course able but not necessarily willing. She sits in the back corner, wears black, is sort of a loner.

Thanks!
